PAIR-UP/MBL
Imaging Boot Camp

Date: May 12th - 17th

Location: Marine Biological Laboratories

Introduction

Optical imaging is central to biomedical research. We will host a weeklong microscopy bootcamp training at the Marine Biological Laboratory. This bootcamp is planned to train graduate students and postdocs on the fundamentals of optical imaging. It is an in-person hands-on workshop which will encompass topics from basic building blocks of a microscope to advanced super-resolution techniques. This workshop will be a mix of tutorial lectures and hands-on lab exercises. We plan to cover:

1.    Fundamental optics covering a range of optical imaging techniques

2.    Introduction to fluorescence and label free imaging techniques

3.    Super-resolution imaging techniques such as SIM, Airy Scan, STED, FPALM

Learning Objectives:

  1. Introduce newcomers to the optical imaging

  2. Develop basic understanding of various optical imaging techniques

  3. Learn working principles of a wide range of optical imaging techniques for biomedical applications

  4. Gain hands-on experience working with optical microscopes.

Who Should Attend?

  • Candidates who use light microscopy.

  • Graduate students and Postdocs interested in the fundamentals of optical imaging.

Cost To Attend:
The workshop is free to selected applicants.

Workshop Dates:

May 12th - 17th, 2025
