Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) is a powerful imaging technique that can reveal biomolecular structures at near-atomic resolution. Structure is essential to understanding how proteins, complexes, and cellular machinery function—advancing research in drug development, neuroscience, cancer biology, molecular biology, and beyond. This workshop offers hands-on training on how to utilize this transformative technology to accelerate your own research. What You'll Experience:
 

• Hands-on learning with leading Cryo-EM instruments including: 

  • Krios, Arctica, and Glacios microscopes equipped with cutting-edge direct electron detectors, energy filters and software automation. 

  • A full range of sample prep tools, including TFS Vitrobot Mk IVs, Leica GP2, Cryosol Vitrojet, Refeyn Mass photometry and more 

• Work in small, mentored teams through sample handling, grid freezing, microscope loading, and data collection 

• Real-time data processing tutorials, including the use of cryoSPARC Live and RELION

• Optional opportunity to bring your own sample (limit: 5 applicants) 

• Networking opportunities with field experts, including speakers from many different institutions 

• Sponsored meals and evening receptions with thought leaders and institutional leadership 

 

Who Should Apply?​

Researchers from diverse backgrounds who want practical training in Cryo-EM and are eager to apply what they learn to their own projects. We especially welcome early-career scientists, graduate students, and postdocs. Beginners to Cryo-EM are welcome to apply.

Limited to 20 participants to ensure a high-quality, hands-on experience.
